Property Law Seminar (16 April 2018)

Time to revamp - Building Management Ordinance (Cap.344)

Homeowners in Hong Kong pay a considerable amount of money to maintain their buildings, yet our main piece of legislation for building management - the Building Management Ordinance (Cap. 344) is behind the times.

Ms. Doreen Kong, head of the property and real estate practice at Reed Smith Richards Butler, with over 20 years of experience in property work compared the building management legislation in different jurisdictions. She looked particularly at areas such as developers’ responsibilities, dispute resolution mechanisms, owners’ and managers’ duties. The seminar, on 16 April 2018, attracted a large audience.
